Core Aeration: Tackling the Root Cause with Hollow Tines

After hollow-tine treatment, suitable washed, fine-grained lawn sand can help fill the newly opened pores. Grain size and quantity need to suit your existing soil profile. Spread it thinly and work it in with a broom without burying the grass blades. A thick layer of generic building sand won't automatically improve heavy soil.

Feeding and Watering According to Need

If a nutrient is lacking, mechanical treatment alone won't fix that. Whether you should feed depends on previous feeding history, the time of year and, ideally, a soil test.
